Construction Worker Arts & Craft (Monday & Tuesday)



Construction Worker: Children will use explore various arts and crafts tools to create and decorate a construction worker. Encourage children to draw eyes, mouth, nose.

 

Optional: Add picture of child's face onto construction worker or encourage them to draw their own face if they'd like instead.

 

Materials:

 

Scissors, Crayons, Glue, pencil, marker.

Loading Trucks Math Mats (Wednesday & Thursday) *See Email Attachment



Load Trucks: Children will engage in counting and identifying numbers using playdough math mats by adding rocks to dump trucks using playdough or beans.

 

● Goal P-MATH 2. Child recognizes the number of objects in a small set.

 

● Goal P-MATH 3. Child understands the relationship between numbers and quantities.


● Goal P-PMP 3. Child demonstrates increasing control, strength, and coordination of small muscles


Roll and Smash Playdough Activity (Friday)

Roll the dice. How many Play-Doh circles can you roll and count? Then smash with your tools!

 

● Goal P-MATH 2. Child recognizes the number of objects in a small set.

 

● Goal P-MATH 3. Child understands the relationship between numbers and quantities.

Announcements

Mr. Taraza: Dear Parents, this week our class is focusing on the buildings unit. For this week I am asking for donations of boxes of any sizes to include in our blocks center for building. (Extra Large, Large, Medium, or Small.) If you have any kind of unwanted boxes from packages you'd like to donate please make sure to remove any labels. Other boxes like shoe boxes, cereal boxes, or recycled packaging would be fine too. All donations are welcomed. Thanks again, I appreciate it!!!

Blue Print (Monday & Tuesday)

Children will dip the lego into the paint and then stamp it onto the blue paper. Children will also experiment with printing from both sides of the lego.

 

Materials:

Lego

 

Washable White Paint

 

Paper plate

 

Blue Construction Paper

 

● Goal P-PMP 3. Child demonstrates increasing control, strength, and coordination of small muscles. (Coordinates hand and eye movements to carry out tasks with ease and control)


Block Building Painting (Wednesday & Thursday)

Children will dip different shaped blocks and stamp them on to paper to create structures and buildings of different sizes and shapes.

 

Materials:

Triangle Block, Square Block, Rectangle Block, etc.

 

Washable Paint (any colors)

 

Paper plate

 

Construction Paper

 

● Goal P-MATH 9. Child identifies, describes, compares, and composes shapes.

 

● Goal P-PMP 3. Child demonstrates increasing control, strength, and coordination of small muscles. (Coordinates hand and eye movements to carry out tasks with ease and control)



Cups and Sticks (Friday)

Children will investigate building with plastic cups and popsicle sticks.

 

Materials:

Mini Plastic Cups

Popsicle Sticks

Art Shape Homes (Tuesday& Wednesday)

Provide an assortment of construction paper shapes. Have children talk about and then sort the shapes in order to make purposeful selections and create a home. They can create their own home or a home they might like to live in.

 

Materials Needed:

Cut up shapes

Paper

glue


● Goal P-ATL 8. Child holds information in mind and manipulates it to perform tasks.

 

● Goal P-PMP 1. Child demonstrates control, strength, and coordination of large muscles.



Additional Optional Activities


Math Patterns AB, ABB, ABC (Thursday & Friday)

● Goal P-MATH 7. Child understands simple patterns.



Children will be able to recognize patterns and identify the next object in sequence Also be able to identify the next figure in sequence in color, shape, and size. (See email for attachments)

Materials:

Any kind of objects that children can piece together or stack near eachother to play with and construct patterns.

Unifix Cubes (Not required) if you would like some, you can always ask me and stop by the school so I can prepare a bag for you.


Playdough Mats

● Goal P-PMP 1. Child demonstrates control, strength, and coordination of large muscles.






Encourage children to build a house, add shapes for windows, chimneys, doors etc. Create a pizza or cake and add some toppings. (See email for attachments)

First Houses (Monday & Tuesday)


Children will glue popsicle sticks or any straight edge to craft a 2 dimensional house.

 

Materials:

 

Construction Paper

Glue

Popsicle Sticks or any straight edge if you don't have popsicle sticks.

Paint/Paintbrush(Optional if you want to paint the sticks)

 

● Goal P-PMP 3. Child demonstrates increasing control, strength, and coordination of small muscles.


STEM Building Activity (Wednesday & Thursday)



Use Popsicle sticks or toothpicks and playdough for children to build three dimensional structure. Children can insert the sticks into balls of the playdough to create the structures.

 

Materials:

 

Popsicle sticks or tooth picks

Playdough or marshmallows

 

● Goal P-PMP 3. Child demonstrates increasing control, strength, and coordination of small muscles.

 

● Goal P-ATL 10. Child demonstrates initiative and independence.
